How The VFX Wizards Brought Distant Galaxies To Life In Cosmos

If there was one reason to remake Carl Sagan’s Cosmos almost 34 years after it originally aired, it was to take advantage of the leaps and bounds made in visual effects over the past three decades. It allowed the folks at BUF, and other VFX shops, to use cutting-edge computer graphics to give us glimpses of the universe we’d never be able to see in person.

And this highlight reel of BUF’s work on the series is not only a surprisingly relaxing way to end the day, it also gives some great insight into how Neil deGrasse Tyson’s version of the miniseries was brought to life. It’s definitely one you’ll want to full-screen. [Vimeo via Notcot]
