Uruguay Claims The Luis Suárez Soccer Bite Is A Photoshop Hoax

Earlier this week, Luis Suarez — Uruguay’s talented but controversial soccer player — appeared to bite Giorgio Chiellini in a World Cup match. Now, though, Uruguay’s Football Association claims that he’s on the receiving end of a cruel Photoshop hoax.

Speaking with the Guardian, Suárez’s lawyer, Alejandro Balbi, claimed that he was going “to use all the arguments possible so that Luis gets out in the best possible way”, adding that the Uruguay FA believed images of Chiellini’s wounds were Photoshopped. “There is a possibility that they ban him… but we are convinced that it was an absolutely casual play, because if Chiellini can show a scratch on one shoulder, Suárez can show a bruised and an almost closed eye.”

Spanish site Sport published the images, above, to show the alleged difference — with the reportedly original image on the left and the Photoshopped image on the right. Would that be enough to convince FIFA to not ban him? The verdict should come through later today. [Sport, The Guardian]
