Not since Donald Duck faced off against Daffy Duck in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? has there been such an epic piano battle as Japanese pianist Yoshiki squaring off against a holographic version of himself.
The performance — staged to promote Yoshiki’s upcoming classical world tour — happened at the recent SXSW festival, and had the artist competing against, and interacting with, the virtual version of himself during a brief duet. To date, holograms have really only been used to let deceased performers take the stage again. But this could open up an entire new world of bands composed of all the same musician.
