The Red Nexus 5 exists! The phone on fire landed on the Australian Google Play Store this morning for the same price as the Nexus 5. Better be quick: this thing won’t last.
The 32GB Nexus 5 in black is still sold out on the store, and I imagine the Red Nexus might sell out even quicker than the first model did.
The Nexus 5 — from a hardware standpoint — is essentially the excellent LG G2: a phone we said had great hardware and crap software.
Carrying this thing around in your pocket is like wielding Thor’s mighty hammer, Mjolnir. Whomsoever holds this phone, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor: with a lightning-fast quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a god-like 2GB of RAM and a beautiful 1080×1920 (1080p) panel with 445ppi, all suited in a svelte, rubberised armour. It’s out of this world.
The Nexus 5 also packs in an 8-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilisation, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage (no microSD card slot here), an Adreno 330 graphics processor, wireless charging, Android 4.4 “Kit Kat”, Gorilla Glass 3 and a 2300mAh battery.
You can get the Red Nexus in a 16GB variant for $399, while the 32GB model goes for $449: both shockingly cheap prices for the kind of device you’re getting for the money.
We’ve expected the Red Nexus for a while after getting wind of it at CES. Our sources tell us that it will also be stocked on contract with Telstra. We expect that news soon. [Google]
