Every Public Place In The World Named In Memory Of JFK

In time for the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination, Slate investigated just how many streets, schools, parks and other public places are named in honour of the US’ 35th president. The tributes go far beyond America’s borders.

The interactive map holds some interesting surprises: the tiny island of Guam has a John F. Kennedy high school, and the Red Cross in Hong Kong, China bears his name. Europe is littered with JFK references, and the US’ neighbours on both borders have establishments in his memory. Perhaps not shockingly, however, there is no civic monument found in Cuba or Russia. Apparently even Cold War grudges live on. [Slate]
