The Sony Xperia Z1S Might Be A Mini Z1 For Everyone Else

Remember the impressive-looking Xperia Z1F handset, shrinking down the flagship Sony Xperia Z1 to a more pocketable size? Some bad news; it’s pencilled in only for Asian markets. The good news? Looks like we’re getting the Xperia Z1S instead, which is basically the same phone with a different name.

That’s according to perennial leaker EvLeaks, who posted the above snap to his Twitter feed. It looks identical to the Z1F (with perhaps slightly more angular corners), and is expected to be made globally available. That’s great, as the Z1F was going to land with the excellent Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and nifty Sony G Len 20.1MP camera system onboard, with only the display quality dropping down to 720p in the jump to the 4.3-inch size. In terms of a release date, there’s no official confirmation yet, though perhaps there’s some significance to the 14th January date in the image of the handset. [EvLeaks]
