Sony’s alphabet soup range of phones expands further with the Xperia M — which may as well stand for mainstream — as that’s the target market. The price isn’t bad for a Jelly Bean phone with 4-inch screen (854×480), 5-megapixel camera and NFC support.
The NFC connectivity is being touted for one-touch music/photo sharing or streaming with devices like Sony’s NFC-capable headphones, speakers and BRAVIA TVs. Of course, the phone also includes Sony’s suite of multimedia management apps.
The Xperia M only packs a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8227 dual-core processor, but it does feature the same stylish ‘OmniBalance’ design that we first saw on the flagship Xperia Z. In the Xperia M’s case, you’ll be able to choose between black or white shells. The suggested retail price is $249, but we hear that Vodafone will offer it for $199 on a prepaid plan from today.
