Imagine, if you will, the geekiest chair imaginable. It’d have to be comfortable and stylish like a regular chair, but come packed with cool tech to keep you entertained while you sat in it like speakers, a tablet dock and even virtual-reality goggles for watching stuff. Turns out, that chair is real: meet the Sonic Chair.
It’s a giant swivel chair that makes it feel like you’re sitting in a giant headphone earcup.
It’s totally customisable depending on your entertainment needs and every chair is hand-built in Germany.
By default, you get a 3.1-channel surround sound system thanks to speakers built into the circular cushions. There’s a speaker on either side and then two more pointed down at you, as well as a sub-woofer in the back cushion and under your butt (don’t go playing any deep bass in this thing). All the volume and bass controls are adjusted on a few sexy knobs next to you.

From there, you can add a side-table for putting your stuff on, or a bespoke iPad or Android tablet holder that clips into the chair for you to play your music, movies and games. Or, if you really want to go all-out with the visual media, you can spring for a pair of Carl Zeiss-made goggles that play content from your devices.
You look a bit of a goon wearing them and sitting in this giant headphone, but the experience is unlike anything I have done before. It’s like your own personal entertainment pod.
You have a choice of 27 different colours for your Sonic Chair, as well as a choice of leather types.
The only real catch with the chair is that it’s €10,000. Every single one is hand-made here in Germany and no two are the same.
Even if it doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, it might just keep the kids entertained for a few hours.
