Google Glass Update Adds Google+ Integration

Google Glass Update Adds Google+ Integration

If you’re one of the lucky Google Glass “Explorers” wandering the world barking at your augmented-reality headset prototype get very excited about a new software update that will make talking to nerdy computer spectacles more social. Amongst the additions in the “XE5” update is Google+ integration, including the ability to comment and +1 posts on Google’s social network.

You’ll also be able to receive incoming Hangout notifications. Here’s a rundown of all the changes, ripped straight from Phandroid:

  • Change to sync policy: require power + WiFi for background uploads
  • Crash reporting
  • Incoming G+ notifications (direct shares, comments, +mentions), including ability to comment and +1
  • Incoming Hangout notifications
  • Transcription of queries & messages is now wicked-fast
  • Long-press to search from anywhere in the UI (no longer just from off)
  • International number dialling + SMS
  • Hop animation on disallowed swipes in the UI
  • New On-Head Detection calibration flow
  • Show device Serial Number on Device Info card
  • More reliable estimation of battery charge remaining
  • New recipient-list mosaic

So, Explorers, you’ve got some new fun tricks to play with. Does it make the world look any better? [Phandroid via Engadget]
