It was nice of Google to start selling a 3G-capable version of its popular Nexus 7 tablet. It would be even nicer if it would sell the darn thing in Australia. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be (for now) and those after the more mobile-friendly rendition of the tablet have had to contend with a constant feeling of emptiness. Good news, then, that two local retailers have taken it upon themselves to fill that Nexus 7-shaped void.
Instead of hitting up the official product page and wasting precious stabs of the F5 key, hoping the “not available in your country” message changes to something more positive, you can visit either The Good Guys or Betta Electrical. The Good Guys have a clear “in stock” label on its product page, while Betta Electrical doesn’t, though that didn’t stop me from successfully adding one to my cart.
Both retailers have the 32GB unit priced at $399, however, as this story on Ausdroid notes, you’ll need to fork over $30 for delivery by Betta. As for The Good Guys, it offers $10 shipping if there’s a store within 40km of the delivery address (as well as in-store pickup).
