Group deal sites often have questionable offers on no-name Android tablets. Today Groupon is offering a basic 7 inch capacitive touch Android tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich for $119 with free postage.
Quite aside from the inevitable cascade of comments I’m anticipating suggesting that such a cheap and nasty tablet isn’t worth even that sum, there are two other things to consider. One, you won’t get it for at least five weeks. Secondly, one of the conditions of sale blatantly flaunts Australian consumer law by saying you won’t be able to get an exchange on damaged goods unless you notify the seller within two days. This is total rubbish: if you’re sent goods that don’t match the description or are broken, the retailer can’t impose such an arbitrary time limit.
So me, I wouldn’t. But if you just want a super-cheap tablet, it’s your call. [Groupon]
