Acer's Got An Awesome-Looking New 11-inch Touchscreen Ultrabook

While other manufacturers spew out Windows 8 hybrids, Acer is going against the tide with its new Aspire S7 ultrabook. The new 11-inch laptop is the apparent semi-successor to the Aspire S5, and it looks like it could be a winner.

The new Aspire S7 has an 11-inch 1366x768 touchscreen (the same resolution as the 11-inch MacBook Air) with Gorilla Glass, packs Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, and HDMI and USB 3.0 ports. It's unclear what the RAM options are, but it's probably safe to assume it will be the standard 4GB/8GB model of current gen ultrabooks.

We don't have pricing information yet, but Acer is obviously jumping on the "make our best stuff touchscreens" end of the bus. The Aspire S7 is slim, looks beautiful and well-made, going by The Verge's impressions. And it doesn't have the annoying and worrying rear mechanised dock connector of the Aspire S5.

We'll have more details for you as they become available. [The Verge]

If more laptops looked like this, I might actually consider getting one.
It actually almost makes win look good

      Makes win8 look good *

I hate the Acer logo. If there's one thing that makes an Acer product look ugly, its an Acer logo.

Big problem with this lappy... it says Acer on it.
Oh, and why is it their old logo?

I"m not seeing any HDMI port on this thing, just one USB 3 on each side. It does look nice, though. I just hope it feels better than the S3, which looks incredibly cheap next to an Asus Zenbook.

After watching the video at The Verge, it seems the miniHDMI port is at the back (which is kind of handy).

I have owned 3 Acer laptops over the years. All have broken both within and after the warranty period. You think I would have learned after the first two. Have now!

I've had an Acer 1810t for almost 3 years. Still works great running Ubuntu 12.04. Too bad it still looks cheap.

I remember previous videos showing it had a Thunderbolt port. It now has a USB 3.0 port in its place. Also, the screen was matte and now it's a glossy glass screen. I want a matte version. It looks like the keyboard still sucks. The video mentions Acer is claiming 6 hours of battery life now. What happened to the 9 hour claim? I usually assume real world battery life is 2/3 the claim too bad now they're claiming 6 hours.
