Fallen Star, a cottage built from scratch and permanently joined to an existing building on the campus at UC San Diego, is the latest piece of work from South Korean installation artist Do Ho Suh.
Seven years after the artist’s initial sketch, Fallen Star is ready for visitors; the 70,000-pound house has opened to the public.

Outside the front door are a plum tree, a wisteria vine, and tomatoes.
Inside, lights flicker on at night and the TV glows. Simulating smoke, steam can be seen rising from the chimney.
The fully-furnished cottage sits cantilevered at an angle from a corner of the seventh floor of Jacobs Hall, also known as Engineering Building 1.
