Grow Your Own Furniture

Grow Your Own Furniture

It may have been created as part of an installation, but artist Werner Aisslinger is onto something here with his Chair Farm kit that lets you simply grow your own furniture.

The prototype uses a set of steel perforated frames which serve as guides, letting a gardener shape and weave a growing vine into a usable chair. Successfully creating an entire living room set probably requires at least a half-green thumb. And the process also calls for quite a bit of patience since it will take a long time to produce each piece, although, it’s probably still faster than waiting in line at IKEA on the weekends.
