Six Australian galleries have joined the Google Art project, which brings the collections of each gallery online in extremely high resolution. Whether you’re after some high-res high-art wallpaper, or just want to browse the classics, it’s never been easier.
The six Australian galleries are The National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, the Melbourne Museum and the Griffith University Rock Art Research Centre.
Each image collated by the Google Art Project is shot thousands of times, with each shot then being combined into a single “gigapixel” image. So now while you’re getting your tech fix, you can also fill yourself full of culture. [Google Art Project]
