In what could be a far more useful application for projector-equipped cameras, researchers at Osaka University have created a prototype that projects a white border to show exactly what’s in frame. Kind of like a laser scope for taking photos.
The ClippingLight camera also incorporates a gyro and motion sensor so the size of the frame can be adjusted by just rotating the camera in either direction. And since the photographer is able to keep their eyes on the scene instead of staring through a viewfinder or at an LCD display, they’re able to frame and snap a shot faster than with a regular camera.
