Yesterday we got a look at Microsoft’s official logo for Windows 8. It dumped the multi-coloured visage we’ve grown accustomed to for a clean and very cyan image that looks more like an actual window than previous attempts. It’s striking, and suits Window 8’s Metro UI, but could Microsoft have taken the opportunity to properly unite its brands?
Juan Perez over at The Verge has had a crack at a Windows 8 logo modelled off of Windows Phone 7. You can see it in the image above. I have to say, I think it looks great.
Taking the concept further, Perez applied the style to a chunk of other Microsoft brands and it’s hard to argue that it just works. You can check them out to the right, just click on the picture for a larger version.
Perez calls it a “missed opportunity” for Microsoft to re-brand its products and bring some consistency to its logos. After seeing his work, I’m inclined to agree.
