It probably doesn’t come as a big surprise to those of us who spend our days online, but a new Telstra study has shown that small to medium businesses are beginning to understand the benefits of getting their business on the internet.
The study found that 81 per cent of SMBs now have a website, which goes to show that there’s still a lot of companies that have a long way to go before they catch up to the 21st century. The good news is that many companies are planning on expanding their online presence this year.
Still, it’s not all good news. Only 21 per cent use social media as part of their business, whether it’s interacting with customers, promoting the business or making sales. Just over a quarter of businesses believe they shouldn’t allow social media in the workplace at all.
One day we’ll be able to get anything and everything we want online, but until that day, it’s good to see Australian businesses are moving forwards, not backwards…
