Haier’s Brain-Controlled TV Doesn’t Actually Control Anything

On the floor of CES, tucked away in Haier’s booth is a TV set advertising BRAIN CONTROL. I was immediately intrigued. Could I think about wanting to watch the latest episode of Teen Mom and have it automatically flash on screen? I had to find out.

Well sadly, this psychic link with our TVs is more concept than reality at this point. Haier had previously announced that they were working with the brain-obsessed NeuroSky to make this a reality and that’s still the company line: engineers are working on it. But they did have a rough demo on display, which is hypothetically powered by the TV (I say hypothetically for a reason). Ugh.

So for now, Haier has a TV with a demo where you can make a barrel explode. Good work guys!
