Chinese Ink Drawings Are Really Amazing Photos

I love the late Don Hong-Oai’s photography. His style, the perfect composition, the texture… everything in his work fools the mind into thinking you are looking at a delicate ink illustration. Photo or drawing, they make me want to travel there.

Hong-Oai, who was born in Canton, China, 1929. He lived most of his life in Vietnam, but then he moved to the United States. There he lived in San Francisco’s Chinatown, where he made prints for collectors in a tiny darkroom. Sadly, Hong-Oai died in June 2004.
