Apple’s snapped itself up a range of iTunes.com misspellings from a single domain name holder (there are less charitable terms), according to Macrumors.
All of the domains were registered in 2004 and focus around the kinds of misspellings that you could make simply by typing too fast, or for that matter using a touchpad rather than keyboard to type. The list includes:
- irtunes.com
- itiunes.com
- itrunes.com
- itubnes.com
- itumnes.com
- itunbes.com
- ituneas.com
- ituneds.com
- itunesa.com
- itunesl.com
- itunres.com
- itunwes.com
- ituynes.com
- iutunes.com
- iytunes.com
- oitunes.com
Apple’s most likely to just redirect them to iTunes.com, which feels like a bit of a waste to me. I mean, oiTunes.com could be a repository of punk rock tunes, iTubnes.com could be for those who like 8-bit gaming systems in their hot tubs, and iTumnes.com could be exclusively for slightly misspelt Narnian fauns. OK, maybe not that last one.[macrumors]
