What you’re peering at is a slice of the hundreds of millions of rods (left) and cones (right) inside your eyes’ retinas. The photo – the first of its kind – was taken borrowing imaging tactics from astronomy, allowing scientists to remove the glimmer from the eye, and could mean great things for eye medicine in the future.
