Dick Schaefer is a junkyard artist. He takes scrap metal from old cars and junkyards and builds these leftovers into wonderful sculptures.
Quite appropriately, he worked as an auto dismantler and is obviously using these skills in his backyard creations. He has fashioned a Volkswagen Bug into a spider, created a bumblebee from a cement truck and assembled a flying machine using a fuel tank.
Speaking like a true artist, Schaefer remarks “usually, I will see the junk first, get an idea and look for a way to make it conform”. This passion to create with junk started when he was young and continues to grow during his retirement years. [AOL news]
