BlackBerry Owners Can Now Protect Their Data

If you happen to own a BlackBerry and want to ensure your data is securely backed up, RIM has just announced the launch of BlackBerry Protect for Australia.

The free app offers a host of protective measures for owners who lose, break or have their phone stolen, including the ability to remotely wipe the phone, remotely lock the device, locate the phone on a map, remotely switch to the handset’s loud ringer and wirelessly backup and restore your data.

Backup can include contacts, calendars, memos, tasks, browser bookmarks and text messages, although backing up those items may suck up some of your monthly data allowance.

For a free app, all BlackBerry owners should download this service today.
