Download Adobe’s Wallaby Flash-To-HTML5 Converter Now

Who knows why Adobe named its Adobe Air tool “Wallaby” (it hops along?), but this “experimental technology” promises to let you reuse .FLA files by converting it to HTML5 for devices that don’t support it. Like iPads.

There will obviously be some features missing (such as video, sound and 3D transforms), but it’s compatible with Mac, iOS and Windows WebKit browsers (i.e. Chrome and Safari).

You can download it today for a fiddle, but there’s no promise from Adobe that it’ll get turned into a fully fledged product – though Adobe says “the focus for this initial version of Wallaby is to do the best job possible of converting typical banner ads to HTML5”. Making those iOS advertising designers’ jobs even easier, basically. [Adobe Labs via Adobe]
