Chinese Spies Suspected Of Hacking PM’s Emails

Following on from the discovery that Australian government agencies don’t use strong enough passwords comes a report today that Chinese hackers have worked their way into the inbox of our Prime Minister. Oops.

According to the Simon Benson report over at News, the PM was just one of a number of high-ranking Australian politicians hacked:

THE parliamentary computers of at least 10 federal ministers including the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Defence Minister are suspected of being hacked into in a major breach of national security.

Attorney-General Robert McClelland refuses to confirm the hack attack, but ASIO are on the case. It’s believed that several thousand emails were accessed in the hack.
