Google’s StreetView Going Off-Road

 title=Ever wanted to check out Taronga Zoo, but without the hassle of having to actually get there? Well, after Google’s announcement this morning, you’ll be able to, with the Big G launching their Streetview Trikes to take the mapping service off-road at popular scenic Aussie locations.

The trike, which weighs 110kg and includes GPS and camera equipment, will be used to shoot will be pedalled around key locations in Australia starting with Taronga Zoo. Google’s asking for suggestions as to what the next locations will be here, if you have a mind to get them pedalling around your local tourist trap.

And if you’re wondering when you’ll get to check out the zoo and other trike-shot Streetview locations, the short answer is “later this year”.
