Trade Your Old Phones For Chickens

Oxfam BannerYes, that’s right. Your old phones – the ones that are sitting around your home doing nothing but gathering dust – can be exchanged for live chickens thanks to MobileMuster and Oxfam. The catch is that you don’t get to keep the chicken – it’s instead donated to a family in Laos.

In all seriousness, this is a great campaign aimed at not only promoting mobile phone recycling – according to the press release, it is estimated that there are 16 million spare phones lying around Australian homes – but also at fighting poverty in one of the world’s poorest countries.

So if you’re interested in both saving the planet and poor families, follow these steps:

1. Visit www.mobilemuster.com.au and download a MobileMuster/ Oxfam Unwrapped reply paid label
2. Follow packaging instructions
3. Drop into your nearest mailbox or Australia Post Outlet for free by 31st December

Make sure you do it by the end of December though, because that’s the cutoff date for chicken giving.
