Taking Supreme Leader Snoke from a vague hologram to a physical presence was one of the biggest challenges for the visual effects team on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the process was a complex push and pull between the director, the effects artists, and Andy Serkis, who portrayed Snoke in motion capture and voice.

On Friday, the news dropped that Rian Johnson's time in the Star Wars universe would not end with The Last Jedi. Instead, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Johnson would be working on a brand new trilogy of movies, separate from the main Saga films, that would "introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored."
It's September 1, which means it's finally Force Friday II -- the day tons of new, wonderful Star Wars: The Last Jedi toys are out. But while elsewhere you can see the heroes of the galaxy far, far away in figure-based action, we can exclusively reveal a few of the new (mostly) villainous toys making their way to shelves.
There's always been a kind of high-fashion pageantry associated with Star Wars' oppressive regimes that's simultaneously terrifying and utterly delightful to look at. When The Last Jedi hits theatres later this year, it looks as if Supreme Leader Snoke's going to continue in that tradition with the Praetorian Guard.
