Video: Say what you want about the problematic casting, but Ghost in the Shell is going to look absolutely bananas.
When the first Ghost in the Shell movie was released in 1995, it was revolutionary, presenting a whole new way of looking at technology and artificial intelligence. Twenty years later, director Rupert Sanders not only has to live up to that legacy, he's trying to build upon it, despite being stuck in a cloud of controversy.
Although most people know Ghost in the Shell for its 1995 anime movie, that's just one part of a sprawling franchise. There have been actually been three manga series, three TV series and four other movies - spanning at least four different continuities. So the question of which storyline, if any, the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie would adapt is a big one. Now we have an answer.
Video: Director Luc Besson (of The Transporter and The Fifth Element fame) is back in the action game with his new film Lucy. It's a sci-fi flick about a girl who unlocks the power of her brain after being used as a drug mule against her will. She gets crazy super-powers thanks to her brainsmarts and goes on a crusade against those who wronged her. It's freaking intense. Check it out.
