The winners of the 2018 Hugo Awards are here. It might have been the first year for Worldcon’s new rules, designed to curb voting slates that haunted previous years, but it didn’t change the actual results. That’s because, for the third year in a row, women dominated the awards — including another Best Novel win for N.K. Jemisin, making her the first author in Hugo’s history to win the award three times in a row.
It's a great time to be a fan of sci-fi-fantasy author N.K. Jemisin. Her latest book, The Stone Sky, just came out this week. The previous novel in her Broken Earth series, The Obelisk Gate, won a Hugo last week. And the first book in the series, The Fifth Season (which won the 2016 Hugo), is being adapted into a TV series.
The latest entry in the sci-fi RPG series Mass Effect, Mass Effect: Andromeda is out next year -- and with it, a bevy of novels designed to tie into the game's story. Usually, books like this aren't anything to write home about, but you can't help get excited with the news that one of them will be written by N.K. Jemisin, the winner of the 2016 Hugo for Best Novel.
