Before he was a formative presence on The Walking Dead, Greg Nicotero worked as an assistant for Tom Savini on George Romero’s 1985 classic Day of the Dead. Recently, he reminisced on working with the late director, and he’s got some great stories to tell from the experience.

Zombie stories almost always have the same end game: Either humanity finds a cure, or everyone dies. In today's Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic-Con, franchise creator Robert Kirkman said definitely his show will never, ever, look for a solution to the undead apocalypse. (Looks like everyone dying is still on the table, though.)

Very different. So different it's a movie where zombies race cars to entertain rich people.
