Predicting the future is near impossible -- but that doesn‘t stop us all from having a red hot go. Human beings have been predicting the future since the beginning of history and the results range from the hilarious to the downright uncanny.

One thing all future predictions have in common: they‘re rooted in our current understanding of how the world works. It‘s difficult to escape that mindset. We have no idea how technology will evolve, so our ideas are connected to the technology of today.

Thanks to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, we can all see the future. We may not know how the adventures of Newt Scamander will turn out, but thanks to the Harry Potter films and books, we know what happens to many of the famous characters seen or mentioned in the prequel. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them isn't out until November 17, but we already have some news about its sequel: Johnny Depp is joining the cast. He'll be a new element in a film which will otherwise have the same director (David Yates), screenwriter (J.K. Rowling) and star (Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander).
