If there's one name that's become synonymous with stop-motion animation, it's Laika. The Oscar-winning animation studio has brought us iconic films like Coraline, ParaNorman and Kubo and the Two Strings. As they prepare for their latest venture, Missing Link, Laika has brought its best animators to San Diego Comic-Con to show us exactly how they bring these stories to life. And now... we're going to show you, too.

This weekend's re-release of Terminator 2 in 3D very well may be the end of an era. At least, it feels like a period on the modern 3D era that started slowly around 2005, exploded in 2009 with James Cameron's Avatar, and became almost all-encompassing in the years to follow.

Frankly, I'm an easy woman to impress. But even so, stop motion animation is next level. Each frame takes meticulous care, craft, and planning. Excellent stop motion is the result of an incomprehensible density and depth of talent. And out of all the great stop motion studios out there, Laika might be the best. This short video shows why.
