Production on James Cameron's four (yes, four) Avatar sequels started last week, and today he announced his biggest piece of casting yet. Kate Winslet, who became a household name thanks to her role in Cameron's Titanic, has joined the series.

Follow-ups to the highest-grossing movie of all time were originally slated to start coming out next year. But recent statements by director James Cameron disclosed that there'd be a delay for the coming wave of Avatar sequels. Now we know the exact dates that Cameron and his team are aiming for, starting with December 18, 2020.
James Cameron's Avatar, the highest grossing film of all time, opened in 2009. Its first sequel was originally scheduled to be released five years later, but Cameron has never been one to rush. So 2014 became 2015, then 2016, 2017, and most recently 2018. Well, like clockwork, it now seems the four Avatar sequels will be delayed for a fifth time.
