Fitmodo: Shed Kilos With Fitmodo Australia!

Confessionmodo time. Over the last little while I’ve stacked it on, and now I’m carrying a few too many kilos. I have beefy bulk, forbidden flab, and a ghastly gut. Well I say no more. Starting today, Fitmodo is back in full swing, and your editors are going to be on the wagon 24/7 to shed the kilos in time for summer.

Danny Allen and I are hitting the gym big time to get back to our goal weights, but we’re not going to do it alone. We’re using the widest array of gadgets to track, monitor and measure our journey from flab to fab so you know what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to training gear.

We’ll be giving weekly updates, reviews and hands-on impressions of what we’re using, how we’re doing and we want you to join in too, dear reader.

You may not have the bulk to shift like I do, but you might have figured out the perfect training regime or you might know what not to eat. You might even be contemplating buying one of these funky fitness trackers, smart scales or clever shoes.

We’ll also post weekly updates about our progress. Here’s where we tip the scales at right now, and where we want to be by the time it gets into beach weather.

I’m 86.5 kilos today, and I’m ashamed to say it’s the unhealthiest I’ve ever been. I’m looking to get back to the weight I was when I met my now-wife: 70kg. I currently have a BMI of 27.3 according to the Withings scales I’m currently testing, which tips me into the overweight category. If I get to my goal weight of 70 kilograms, my BMI will normalise back down to a 22.1.

Danny:
Yep, going to live the Fitmodo lifestyle. Like Luke, I’m also headed to around the 70kg mark (before working my way up again with lean muscle mass), and have already gotten a little closer over the last four weeks. My favourite gadgets/apps so far my Fitbit Ultra, Fitbit Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale and an app called MyFitnessPal. Full write-ups coming soon.

Vital stats week 1:
185cm / 80.7kg / 33 years old / 23.5BMI / 21% body fat / (last two only roughly indicated via scale)

So that’s the challenge.
