Fanned by fierce winds and searing temperatures, a wildfire is exploding in size in the Catalonia region of northeastern Spain. According to the Catalan interior minister, it could be the worst blaze the region has seen in 20 years.
Record-setting heat plagued much of southern California over the weekend, with temperatures touching as high as 47 degrees during the day. The unseasonably hot weather sparked a number of brush fires that swept across hundreds of acres of land and destroyed several homes.
A 10,000-acre bushfire that began just off a Californian Air Force base continues to spread. And it’s heading closer and closer to the base’s rocket launchpads.
