Once upon a time, new iPods were the event for Apple. Yesterday, Apple talked iPods for all of 10 minutes. No radical new features. No surprises. If yesterday was any indication, all iPods — not just the Classic — have nearly reached the end of their innovation cycle.
Apple’s local website rather predictably went down during the announcements this morning, but it’s back up (albeit a little spotty) right now, and with it, the local pricing for the iPhone 4S, new iPod nano and touch models has appeared.
Apple’s boosted its petite iPod offering, with a new scrolling touch UI (no more grid!), built-in sensors for fitness tracking, and — wait for it — an assortment of virtual watch faces. Oh, and it plays music. Available today.
