MSI’s GT75 is a laptop in name only. Measuring 2.2-inches thick and weighing over 4.5kg, even the mere thought of lugging this thing around makes my back hurt. Oh, and did I mention that’s before you factor in that this 17-inch gaming behemoth requires not one, but two separate power…
It may not be due out until early next year, but an engineering sample of Intel’s monster Core i9 processor (the kind we saw benchmarked) ended up on eBay. The 2.4GHz Xeon Westmere Gulftown chip’s auction ended, unfortunately, so all you nerd millionaires can forget about snagging the expensive escapee.
In short, the next Mac Pro might be using Intel’s six-core Gulftown (Core i9) processor, possibly in a 12-core configuration, but’ll have a custom motherboard that’ll support 8GB and 16GB RAM modules (for up to 128GB), along with 10Gbps Ethernet.
