It's been over a month since the long-awaited fourth season of Rick and Morty aired on Netflix internationally. In fact, as of this week it is now on its mid-season hiatus.
Now, finally the new season is about to drop in Australia.
The Rick and Morty faithful know what it means to wait for new episodes—and are on familiar turf again, now that the first half of season four is over. This might be why the first five episodes leaned so hard into fan service. But they also elevated the show’s signature blend of juvenile humour and flat-out brilliance.
Fans around the world haven't been particularly happy about having to wait for the fourth series. In fact, it was supposed to air in January in the UK, but the date was quickly moved up after fan outcry.
While airing on Adult Swim in the U.S., the home of Rick and Morty in Australia has been Netflix. When the third season aired in 2017, each episode appeared on the platform around a week after it debuted in the U.S.
As such, many fans expected the same thing to happen this time around. However, despite the new season dropping on November 11, not a single episode has aired in Australia.
It seems that Netflix was probably waiting for the first half of the season to air so they could put all five episodes on the platform simultaneously.
And now the time has almost come. The first five episodes will air in Australia on Sunday December 22.
These are the episodes you can look forward to:
- Edge of Tomorty: Rick, Die, Rickpeat
- The Old Man and the Seat
- One Crew Over the Crewcoo’s Morty
- Claw and Hoarder: Special Ricktim’s Morty
- Rattlestar Ricklactica
No hard air date for the remainder of the season has been set yet. All we know at the present time is that it will be sometime in 2020.
Happy Rickmas to us all! And if you want to hype yourself up, here's the trailer for season 4:
