Epson’s New Projector Serves Up 4K Content Without The Pricey TV

Epson has announced it’s bringing its ultra short-throw projector to Australia in 2020 giving you the chance to view your content in 130 inches, if you so desire.

Epson’s EH-LS500 is an ultra short-throw projector allowing for 4K playback without needing to actually own a screen. Short-throw projectors, like the name suggests, mean you don’t have to set them up metres away from the designated screen area. Instead, ultra short-throw projectors can placed pretty close to the wall the screen’s being displayed on.

That means instead of bothering with a chunky, mammoth screen to view your movies on, you can set up this smaller (but still beefy) boy and place it against the wall for a bit of minimalist charm. You’ll be able to plug in devices for watching Amazon Fire TV and Roku or hook up DVD players, set top boxes, games consoles through its HDMI ports.

The projector also comes with two 10-watt speakers, which will do a decent job if you haven’t got a sound bar set up.

Here’s what’s under the grill.

Specs

  • Up to 130-inch display
  • 4K PRO-UHD 1
  • HDR10 & HLG (18 Gbps)

  • 2,500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio

But to get an image that rivals an LCD or OLED TV, you can’t just point them at a bare wall. So with its new LS500 short-throw 4K laser projector, Epson is including a perfectly-sized ambient light rejecting screen that promises deep blacks and vivid colours.”]
