GoPro Announces New Lineup To Remind You How Boring You Are

GoPro has announced it’s got some cool new products on the way, including the GoPro HERO8 Black, GoPro MAX as well as new Mods. It’s dropped an extremely radical video to accompany the release in what is sure to inspire people to go out and do some cool shit. But for me, it just made me realise how boring the life I live is. Thanks.

The HERO8 is the latest addition to the HERO series and offers HyperSmooth 2.0 video stabilisation and upgraded audio capabilities. It’ll also come packed with TimeWarp 2.0, an updated version of the feature giving you the option to slow down or speed up footage with the touch of a few buttons.

GoPro HERO8 specs

  • Camera: 12MP, SuperPhoto + HDR,
  • Video recording: 4K60 1080p240, 1080p live streaming, 8x Slo-Mo, TimeWarp 2.0, HyperSmooth 2.0 + Boost
  • Durability: Waterproof up to 10 metres
  • Price: $599.95

The GoPro MAX is a little beefier on the image capture and recording side of things with a 16.6-megapixel camera and shooting up to 5.6K30 but you’ll have to sacrifice half of its waterproof capabilities.

GoPro MAX specs

  • Camera: 16.6MP, Spherical + HERO Capture, PowerPano
  • Video recording: 5.6K30, 1080p live streaming, 2x Slo-Mo, Max TimeWarp, Max HyperSmooth, Spherical Audio
  • Durability: Waterproof up to 5 metres
  • Price: $799.95

But if you want to see all the cool things you could actually do with it, GoPro also released action-packed trailer to get you wow-ing.

Watching the trailer, however, made me realise how uncool I am. Have a skied down a remote alpine slop? Do I do some extreme biking in rocky deserts of a weekend? No. I am extremely un-radical and probably not GoPro’s target audience here. Still, maybe one day I could be.

The GoPro HERO8 Black, available in stores from October 20, and the GoPro MAX, which you can buy from October 24.

I snowboard and mountain bike. I ride motorcycles and dirt bikes. I fly drones. I go on scenic hikes with my dogs. But I haven’t actually purchased an action cameras since 2014 when I picked up a Hero4 Silver. Until last week, I thought it did the job fine. Boy, was I wrong.”]
