Snapchat Introduces New 3D Lens for Extra Snazzy Selfie Snaps

Snapchat is rolling out a new 3D camera mode although to make a 3D snap, you’ll need to have an iPhone X or newer.

Happily, you can view the resulting 3D snap on any device – iPhone and Android – so those 3D butts and boobs that will inevitably be doing the rounds can be enjoyed by everyone. You can just wiggle your phone about to view it in 3D.

“With the introduction of depth and interaction, Snaps can capture even more detail about how the world looks and how you feel,” said Snapchat’s Andrew McPhee. “Together with our new 3D Effects, this feature adds a new layer of expression to bring your Snaps to life in a way that’s a step closer to the real thing.”

3D snaps first made their debut last month with Spectacles 3, although the main difference here is that the app’s 3D camera mode is for selfies, while Spectacles 3 is for everything that’s not just your face.

The 3D stuff comes hot on the heels of an update from earlier this month that saw the addition of some new templates, including skeletal tracking for even more impressive snaps.
