Samsung Confirms Galaxy Home Mini, Original Version Still ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It’s been over a year since the Samsung Galaxy Home was unveiled at Unpacked 2018.

Originally announced for an April 2019 release, it has been continuously pushed out and nobody is really sure if and when it will actually appear.

The question mark above the smart speaker has been strengthened by rumours that a smaller version of the truly massive device was in the works. And now it’s been confirmed.

The device was pegged to be Samsung’s challenger to other smart speakers in market such as the Google Home, Amazon Echo and Apple HomePod. 12 months later and it’s still nowhere to be seen. And it didn’t get a mention at this year’s conference, either..”]

A beta application program for the Google Home Mini has kicked off today in South Korea and will run until September 1.

Approved enthusiasts will be sent the device ahead of its official launch for testing purposes.

It looks the same as its larger. mythical sibling but smaller. It will reportedly include AKG sound as well as old mate Bixby.

There’s no word on when the Galaxy Home Mini will be released. And we still have a month until Samsung’s latest self-imposed deadline regarding the release of the original actually expires.

Samsung’s Consumer Electronics CEO, Kim Hyun-suk confirmed a new release period with the Korea Herald several months back.

“The Galaxy Home speaker, which will be the centre of Samsung’s home appliances, is planned to be launched in mid-second half of the year,” he said.

This gives the company until the end of September to deliver. This could also mean that it will launch at IFA next week, though it was missing last year. We’ll be reporting from the show floor and will keep our eyes peeled for both products.
