Huawei Unveils Its Ultra-Portable MateBook 13 & You Can Get It Right Bloody Now

Huawei just dropped a whole lot of power in a neat little package, and you can pick it up *checks watch* right now.

The MateBook 13 isn’t quite as punchy as the MateBook X Pro on the memory side of things, but it’s still an impressive bit of kit which comes without the 6-month wait for a local release. It’s available in 8th Generation i5 or i7 variants, each with 8GB of LPDDR3 2133MHz RAM. The MateBook X Pro comes with double that at 16GB of RAM.

If you’re keen on running out and grabbing one straight away, you can do so from the Microsoft Store on George Street in Sydney starting at the special price of $1,679.05, which is $119.95 off the standard price of $1,799 if you bundle it with a Microsoft Arc Mouse. If you’re after the top-tier i7 model, you’ll be dishing out $2,079.05, or $2,199 at normal price.

The Arc Mouse retails for exactly $119.95, so in other words, you’re just getting a free mouse for the standard price. You can also take advantage of the deal online right here.

The i5-8265U model comes with Intel UHD Graphics 620 and 256GB SSD storage space, while the top-tier i7-8565U packs an NVIDIA GeForce MX 150 2GB GDDR5 GPU and 512GB SSD storage space. The i5 comes in Mystic Silver and the i7 is in Space Grey.

Each unit has a 3:2 aspect ratio, tiny 4.4mm bezels, and 2K resolution. In terms of weight, you’re looking at around 1.28kg – 1.3kg depending on the model you choose. You can see the full spec sheet below.

“Huawei is committed to providing a truly seamless experience for users, and the Huawei MateBook 13 is a great example of this – it combines FullView display, user friendly features, a
top-end processor and so much more,” Huawei Australia Managing Director, Larking Huang, said in a release.

It seems like the company has listened to its Australian fanbase, which is clearly hungry for new products. While consumers had to wait half a year for the MateBook X Pro to drop locally, it’s only been two months since the MateBook 13 was announced back in February.

Hopefully, this means the long waits are over for good.
