It’s 2018 And People Are Still Using These Dumb Passwords

Is your password sunshine, 666666, or monkey? Bad news: if a hacker tries to guess your password, those are some of the very first ones they’ll try. SplashData, makers of the password managers SplashID, TeamsID, and Gpass, just released its annual “worst passwords” list.

The company examined over 5 million leaked passwords, and named the 25 most common passwords. Combined, these passwords are used by 10 per cent of computer users.

While most of these have appeared on previous top lists, new entries include princess, sunshine, !@#$%^&*, and donald. Personally, I would bet real money that at least one important White House account is protected with the password donald.

If you use any of the passwords below, replace it with a longer, stronger password. And get yourself a password manager so you don’t have to memorise your passwords.
