Games Of Thrones Scotch Is Coming

Edible food and beverage TV and movie tie ins can be tricky – they run the risk of being all gimmick and no flavour. Or, in the case of the Handmaids’s Tale wine that launched a few months back, can be figuratively as well as literally in bad taste.

I’m usually highly skeptical about this stuff. But I have to admit that I’m very keen to try Johnnie Walker’s new Game of Thrones Scotch Whisky, which is aptly named White Walker.

The scotch contains single malts from Scotland’s Cardhu and Clynelish distillery and apparently has notes of caramelised sugae and vanilla, as well as undisclosed berries and orchard fruit. Sounds tasty!

And to tie in with the frozen theme of white walkers, it has been designed to be best served directly from the freezer.

The scotch whisky was created by specialist George Harper who said that, “Whiskies from Clynelish have endured long, Scottish winters, not dissimilar to the long periods endured by the Night’s Watch who have ventured north of the wall – so it was the perfect place to start when creating this unique whisky.”

We have our fingers crossed that we’ll get to try it and tell you about it soon. It may have been designed with winter in mind, but I think it sounds like a icy summer treat.

White Walker by Johnnie Walker will be available in Australia from late November with an RRP of $65.
