Forza Horizon 4 Is Bloody Beautiful

When it comes to graphics, sometimes there’s nothing better than virtual car porn.

That was the case with the Project CARS games, and Forza Horizon is plenty pretty too. But the photo mode in Forza Horizon 4 is proving especially handy for fans and dedicated screenshotters, particularly once you start playing with the specific apeture, exposure, focus, contrast and colour settings.

Even with the ugliness of the logo in the corner, shots like this are still astonishing.

Even in a future where we know raytraced shadows aren’t far away, shots like this are just delightful.

And FH4‘s light tunnel is something else:

And then there’s the wide shots of the countryside.

And even something like this has a certain charm to it:

It’s worth noting that FH4 is supremely well optimised. I’m still midway through benching the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti cards, but even the GTX 1080 Ti and GTX 1080 have no qualms on the British streets in 4K. Given the troubles Forza Horizon 3 had at launch, that’s an outstanding turnaround.

Hell, even watching the intro downsampled from 5K is … it’s something.
