The Grand Final of That Startup Show is here!
After a full season of unearthing startups to watch, all the finalists were assembled for an awards night like no other – and celebration was the order of the evening.
Hosts Rae Johnston and Ben Law named self-checkout tech firm Tiliter the overall winner of the Golden Uniroo award, with judges deeming it most likely to make an impact culturally, socially and financially.

Founded just ten months ago by Martin Karafilis, Chris Sampson, Marcel Herz and Quinton Foxcroft, Tiliter Technology is set to transform shopping experiences and save supermarkets millions from fraud.
Its TiliterVision technology consists of AI and a smart camera, which automatically identify any product it sees.
This has now been implemented within a pilot group of supermarkets to identify the difference between fruits, vegetables and other products, and has already resulted in cost efficiencies, and a better customer shopping experience.
As part of their prize, the team won entry into the Microsoft for Startups program, which gives access to $120k in Azure credits and other benefits.
They’ll also get an immersive, tailored one-week program at any of Austrade’s Landing Pad hubs in Berlin, Tel-Aviv or Shanghai, as well as mentor sessions with Alan Jones, founder of M8 Ventures.
Judges on the evening where Anu Bhardwaj, founder of Women Investing in Women Digital, Will Richardson, MP at Giant Leap & Head of VC Impact Investment Fund, and Jessica Summons, Head of Operations at Startmate.
They chose the winner alongside off-screen judges Craig Blair, Managing Partner of Airtree Ventures, tech investor Atlanta Daniel and Rachael Neumann, Chair of StartupAus and Startmate mentor.
The panel on the night also took the time to discuss different concepts of success and challenging Australia’s tall poppy syndrome.

Best Newcomer – Catalysr
Catalysr is a pre-accelerator for early stage startups, which runs intensive entrepreneurship programs for high-performing migrant and refugee entrepreneurs.
Most Innovative Tech – Navi Technologies
NAVI’s mission is to transform Umbilical Venous Catheterisation procedures to ultimately enable better care for patients.
Best Scale Up – Project Rockit
Project Rockit is an online anti bullying training program which empowers school students to stand up to hate instead of standing by watching.
That Startup Show will return for season 3 in 2019.
