Huawei Nova 3i Australian Price, Specs and Release Date

Huawei has just announced its new mid-range smart phone, the nova 3i. Much like Huawei’s current flagship, the P20 Pro, this new model aims to offer high quality photographic and AI capabilities at a competitive and accessible price point.

“2018 has been an exciting year for Huawei. It’s a year where our significant research and development efforts are being recognised” said Larking Huang, Managing Director of Huawei Australia Consumer Business Group.

“Our mantra has always been to create products with innovations that enrich the lives of our users. We accomplished this with the amazing Huawei P20 Pro, arguably the best camera smartphone in the world right now. But our mission has always been to make cutting edge technologies more widely accessible which is why it’s our privilege to introduce the Huawei Nova 3i – one of our most exciting achievements yet.”

Huawei is taking a leaf from Oppo’s book when it comes to the cameras, with the front 24MP eclipsing the rear 16MP.

This is due to the focus that the 3i has on AI-assisted quality photo production for the mid-range phone market. And in regards to video capture, it can capture 480fps in super slow-motion.

The Nova 3i’s AI can also map facial features in 3D to created adjustable 3D lighting for photos or create a “3D Qmoji” avatar if you’re into that kind of thing.

More importantly, the mapping with allow facial recognition technology to be used for security purposes such as unlocking. Alternatively, you can also use the rear fingerprint sensor.
If you choose to expand the memory with a microSD card, it can also be encrypted.

The battery is also impressive, and even gives the Samsung S9 a run for its money.

Here are the key specs:

  • Kirin 170 Processor
  • 6.3-inch 2340 x 1080 FHD+ display
  • 128GB memory
